What a Year Ahead!

Wow! Several of us just returned from the Harley-Davidson Summer Dealer Meeting in Nashville. This meeting is for all worldwide Harley-Davidson dealers and it here where the motor company introduces their new products each year including bikes, accessories, parts and motorclothes. These are always exciting events and this year was no exception. Between the products and events that are planned, 2008 should be one of the most exciting years yet to be a member of the Harley-Davidson community.

Here are a few reasons why:

PRODUCTS:

• Introduction of three new bikes that totally rock:

• FXDF FATBOB with internally wired handle bars, tommy gun exhaust,
  twin side by side headlight, aggressive 180mm rear tire and fat 130mm front tire

• FXCW ROCKER - yeah, it "Rocks" and represents a whole new Softail platform. With it's zero suspension long lean look, 240mm rear tire, low seat height and internally wired handlebars you will instantly know this isn't your Daddy's Harley! The boys in Milwaukee thought this one through. I talked with the lead engineer on the bike and was impressed with how proud of this creation he was; he tells me this bike handles and corners incredibly. Our first ones are secheduled to arrive in September.

• FXCWC ROCKER C - The chromed out, fully loaded version of the new ROCKER! A 37.5 degree rake, hard tail custom look with no visible supports for the fender over the rear wheel. This bike looks unquestionably like a custom but with all the Harley engineering, warranty and dealer support you don't get with a custom bike. Again, deliveries begin in September.

• Over 1000 new parts and accessories for 2008. Some really cool stuff has started to arrive already and I've found some must haves for my 2007 Ultra.
  

• Limited Edition 105th bikes across family lines. When I say limited, I mean limted. These will not be available all year long and once they are gone, they are gone. These should also start arriving in September.

TECHNOLOGY:

• Six gallon fuel tanks on all touring models to get you further down the road before stopping

• Speaking of stopping, we have you covered there too, with the introduction of optional ABS/Brembo braking on all touring and VRods

• "Isolated Drive System" on the rear sproket of all touring models. Located in the rear drive-belt sprocket, the "Isolated Drive System" reduces noise and vibration to the rider for improved ride quality under acceleration, shifting and cruising

• Electronic throttle control on all touring models

• Wiring in handlebars of many models

EVENTS AND MILESTONES:


What a year of celebration for Harley-Davidson. 2008 brings new reasons to ride and celebrate!

• Celebration of Harley-Davidson's 105th Anniversary and the "Ride Home". This one is going to be bigger and better than the Motor Company's 100th celebration. The "Ride Home" will start August 17 - 27 (2008) with 25 routes to Milwaukee from all across the United States including the Seattle area. This will be the largest Harley-Davidson ride ever! Enjoy the celebration in Milwaukee from August 28 - 31 (2008). Advance tickets go on sale August 1, 2007 for H.O.G. members and August 15, 2007 for the general public.

• Opening of the fabulous Harley-Davidson Museum

• Celebration of H.O.G.'s 25th anniversary

Couple all of this excitement with all the things we (Sound Harley) have planned in 2008 and we have a year of major fun and adventure in front of us.

Lastly, the other milestone that I am thrilled about is that the Motor Company selected Sound Harley-Davidson for the "Retail Environment of the Year Award" . The bottom line is they think our store is cool and we hope you do too. We all felt very honored to have won this award from Harley-Davidson.

Okay, we just had a bunch of 2008 accessories come in and I have to go cause trouble and dig through some of them.
